BPW Fire Safety was formed by Bill Walton, and his wife Pauline, following thirty years service with Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service .
Bill served in Kendal, Workington and Carlisle areas. He achieved the rank of Divisional Officer in charge of the Fire Safety Department at the then C Division Headquarters covering the Carlisle and Eden area. He was responsible for providing fire safety advice to business and the public, the enforcement of fire safety legislation and reducing death and fire losses via community fire safety effort with a team of ten fire safety officers and operational crews.
Bill was involved in practical and theoretical training of operational crews and was a serving examiner for the Statutory Fire Service Practical Examinations on behalf of the Fire Services Examinations Board. He also attended fire and rescue incidents throughout the area in a command and control capacity. He is a trained Fire Investigation Officer and led the fire investigation team in the Division.
Bill has completed a number of courses at The Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh including The Specialist Fire Prevention Course, The Fire Safety Officers Module E Course (Fire Engineering) and The Fire Investigation Course. He is a Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers and holds a certificate for "Managing Safely" from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Pauline provides the administrative base for the business.
Following radical changes to fire safety legislation in October
2006 requiring employers, owners and occupiers of buildings to carry
out fire risk assessments, we now provide a comprehensive fire
safety consultancy service. Our services include fire risk
assessments (life safety and property protection), developing fire
safety strategies, fire safety training, fire safety advice to
developers and surveys for prospective purchasers of property.
Our philosophy is to provide a high quality and reliable service for our clients at a reasonable cost.
